Toxic bosses

Toxic boss, and HR won’t help. What would you do?

📍 India

Toxic bosses are a daily complaint in Indian offices, but India has no single law against workplace bullying. The POSH Act, 2013 covers sexual harassment only (Bhatt & Joshi, updated May 2026). The Labour Ministry’s SAMADHAN portal takes industrial disputes and wage-type claims, not complaints about a boss’s behaviour (PIB, 25 Jul 2024). A Right to Disconnect Bill, 2025 was reported in Dec 2025 as a private member’s bill in the Lok Sabha; such bills rarely pass. We read 137 comments from 88 YouTube videos on toxic bosses. People split between quitting, not trusting HR and keeping proof, just coping, asking the Labour Ministry to step in, and exposing the boss in public. Where do you stand? Opinions only. AI layoffs

AI layoffs in IT: Do you feel your job is safe?

📍 India

Layoffs are hitting tech jobs again. Oracle's workforce fell by about 21,000 in a year, and reports say more than half of those cuts were in India. TCS cut over 23,000 jobs in FY26, Cognizant planned 12,000–15,000 cuts, and Amazon has removed about 30,000 corporate roles since late 2025, with more small cuts in October 2026. In the July–September 2026 quarter, Wipro's headcount fell by 6,716 while TCS and HCLTech added people. Companies say AI is changing the skills they need. Many employees say AI is just an excuse to cut costs. Do you feel your job is safe? What do you think?

AI and graduate jobs

Is AI already making it harder for new graduates to find jobs?

📍 United States

A Stanford SIEPR brief (26 July 2026) found about a 13% relative employment decline for ages 22-25 in AI-exposed jobs since 2022, while cautioning against assuming cause. A CESifo study reported in September 2026 found recent-graduate unemployment of 7.3% in summer 2026, in line with the prior four years.

H-1B fee retention

Should the US keep a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa petitions?

📍 United States

A federal court in Massachusetts struck down the $100,000 H-1B fee on 8 June 2026, and on 24 July the First Circuit declined to pause that ruling, so USCIS stopped collecting it. As of 2 September 2026 the government was still appealing. Standard H-1B fees still apply.

Bank five-day week

Should Indian banks move to a five-day working week for employees, as bank unions are demanding?

📍 India

The United Forum of Bank Unions held a nationwide strike on 11 September 2026, saying talks with the government had not settled its demand for a five-day week. Unions suggest staff rotation to keep six-day service. Further strikes were notified for 28-30 September and from 26 October.

IT fresher hiring

Is Indian IT doing enough to hire fresh graduates, given AI-led changes to entry-level work?

📍 India

Infosys said in April 2026 it plans to hire at least 20,000 freshers in FY27, even as its quarterly headcount fell by 8,440 to 328,594. One commentary reports fresher IT hiring is far below its FY22 peak and links this to AI taking over routine work. Global Capability Centres are expected to add new roles.

AI-attributed layoffs

When tech companies cite AI while cutting jobs, do you think AI is the real reason?

A July 2026 ranking counted over 76,000 job cuts at the ten largest tech layoffs of 2026, led by Oracle (21,000) and Amazon (16,000). Oracle told regulators AI adoption had contributed to workforce reductions, while others, including OpenAI's chief executive, have called some AI explanations 'AI washing'.
