Nifty

Where is Nifty headed next?

📍 India

Indian markets are swinging hard: big jumps one week, sharp falls the next. Bears point to crude oil above $100, foreign investors pulling money out, a weak rupee, war tension and shaky US tech stocks. Bulls count on hopes of LTCG and STT relief, steady SIP buying, festive demand and big listings like the Jio Platforms IPO. Is the rally real or a trap? Where do you think Nifty goes from here?

Gold before Dhanteras

Gold near ₹1.5 lakh before Dhanteras. What would you do?

📍 India

On 22 Oct 2026 gold is about ₹1.46 lakh per 10 g, so 100 g costs about ₹14.6 lakh. That is roughly 18% below its recent peak of ₹1.77 lakh, with Dhanteras on Fri 6 Nov. For comparison, 100 g of gold cost about ₹4.76 lakh in 2020 and about ₹5.88 lakh in 2023. Some people say buy before the festival rush, others wait for a bigger fall, prefer gold ETFs or bonds to jewellery, buy a little every month, or skip gold because it is too expensive. Petrol prices

Petrol is over ₹100 a litre in India. What is the real fix?

📍 India

Petrol in Delhi costs about ₹102 a litre (21 Oct 2026, Upstox). When crude jumped because of the West Asia conflict, the Centre cut excise duty by ₹10 a litre in late March 2026. Then on 15 May 2026 petrol and diesel were raised by ₹3.04 a litre to ease losses at state oil companies (ThePrint). On Dhishuum's own estimate, an average Indian works about 33 hours to pay for one 40-litre tank of petrol, against about 1 hour in the US (2026 prices; income is the latest World Bank figure, 2024). People argue about the fix: cut excise duty and state VAT, bring petrol under GST, pass on cheaper crude when it falls, scrap E20 ethanol blending, or accept the price as fair. Where do you stand? Opinions only. Not linked to any government body or oil company.

India's richest

Who deserves to be India's richest?

📍 India

On the Hurun India Rich List (23 Sep 2026), Gautam Adani is India's richest at about ₹9.23 lakh crore, ahead of Mukesh Ambani at ₹8.63 lakh crore. Jio Platforms' IPO (price band ₹1,065-1,119, subscription 21-23 Oct 2026, about ₹10.3 lakh crore valuation at the top) could lift Ambani's wealth. On Dhishuum's own estimate, a listing near ₹1,320 a share would close the gap, if the full gain reaches Reliance's share price (an estimate, not a forecast). People argue about who deserves the top spot: Ambani, who built Jio for India; Adani, the self-made infrastructure builder; both together; neither, because of government friends; or Tata, wealth with ethics. Where do you stand? Opinions only. Not linked to any company, list or government body.

Demat accounts

Best demat app in India: Which one do you trust with your money?

📍 India

Groww, Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox or Dhan: young investors argue about this every day. Groww is now No. 1 with 1.34 crore active NSE clients (29.2% share, September 2026). Zerodha (67.9 lakh) and Angel One (67.6 lakh) are almost level, then Upstox (18.5 lakh) and fast-growing Dhan (11.2 lakh). Quick comparison, from each broker's own price page (20 Oct 2026): • Zerodha: ₹0 on delivery; intraday ₹20 or 0.03% per order; demat AMC free in year 1, then ₹300 + GST a year (less with a small BSDA account). • Groww: delivery and intraday ₹20 or 0.1% per order (min ₹5); ₹0 AMC. • Angel One: ₹20 or 0.1% per order (min ₹5) after the first 30 days; AMC free in year 1, then ₹60 + GST a quarter (BSDA up to ₹4 lakh free). • Upstox: ₹20 per order on delivery; AMC free in year 1, then ₹300 + GST a year. • Dhan: ₹0 on delivery; intraday ₹20 or 0.03%; ₹0 AMC. What YouTube viewers say: Groww wins for its simple app, Dhan for zero charges, Zerodha for trust and Kite, Angel One for full-service features, while Upstox gets the most complaints about charges. Which one do you use and trust? Charges change often, so check the broker's site before opening an account. Opinions only, not investment advice, and not linked to any broker.

Jio IPO

Jio IPO: Real value or just hype?

📍 India

Jio Platforms is raising about ₹30,000 crore in a fresh issue, with the price band at ₹1,065–1,119. Fans point to India's biggest telecom base, steady subscriber growth and a rare chance to own a piece of Jio. Doubters say the valuation is rich next to Airtel, the grey market premium can fade fast, and the money is mainly for the company, not for existing holders. Is Jio real value for the long run, or just hype? What do you think?

📍 India

Jio's IPO opens on 21 October at Rs 1,065 to 1,119 a share. The big question: will it give gains on listing day, or is most of the value already priced in for investors?

YES Bank shares fell 14% after the AT1 bond ruling. What would you do?

📍 India

The Supreme Court ruled the Rs 8,415 crore AT1 bond write-off from 2020 illegal. YES Bank shares fell about 14% on 15 October. Bondholders may get relief, but the bank could now need fresh capital.

IDBI Bank

IDBI Bank is being sold to Fairfax. Is it a good deal?

📍 India

The Cabinet cleared the sale of a 60.72% stake held by the government and LIC to a Fairfax-backed entity for Rs 52,878 crore. IDBI Bank shares fell over 7% after the news. Is the price fair, and is a foreign owner good for the bank?
